This May has been a monumental success for Royal Grappling Academy, we’ve hosted Mansher Singh Khera (Munch) for a week long training camp which was well attended by not only our team but visitors from Team Torres in Newry/Derry, Alliance Sligo, Balance, East Coast JJA, Satori, Kyuzo, SBG, Team Ryano, Jiu-Jitsu Brotherhood and Tuatha de Dannan. From feedback, all agreed that the techniques and skills were well taught and the details from this young Marcelo Garcia Blackbelt were game changing.
At the end of the camp and after 5 years at Purple Belt, Royal Grappling Academy Coach, Paul Fox was promoted to Brown Belt. The belt tied around his waist by Roger Dardis and Mansher after the approval was given by Marcelo. Surprised and delighted by the promotion, Fox is truly grateful to be part of such an amazing team, for Roger’s instruction and the hard work and training put in by all of the students in the last number of years.
To round off the week we had our largest ever team competing in the Irish Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open, with some competing for the first time. Stand out performances by Roger Dardis to Win Gold in the Brown Belt Absolute Division with his dominant passing game and Lucas Suarez who won Gold in the Lightweight White Belt Adult Division and Silver in the Absolute. Congratulations to all our competitors and medalists on their hard work in the preparation for this competition.
Just after the tournament Darren Lewins, who splits his time training with us and Balance Jiu-Jitsu Ireland, was awarded his Purple Belt from his long-time coach Ray Butcher. Congratulations Darren.
In closing, we are just putting the finishing touches on our state of the art facility at 25 Stadium Business Park, Ballycoolin, Dublin 15 and hope to move in early June with a new and improved timetable and classes to suit males and females of all levels and ages.
